Description
These Candied Lemon Slices are the perfect mix of sweet and tart with a glossy finish. Great as garnishes, snacks, or homemade gifts.
Ingredients
- 2 to 3 lemons, thinly sliced (1/8 to 1/4 inch thick)
- 2 cups granulated sugar (plus extra for coating)
- 2 cups water
- Parchment paper
Instructions
1. Slice lemons evenly and remove seeds.
2. In a large skillet, combine 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water. Bring to a gentle boil until sugar dissolves completely.
3. Add lemon slices in a single layer and reduce heat to low. Simmer gently for 45–60 minutes, turning occasionally.
4. When lemons are translucent, carefully transfer them to a parchment-lined baking sheet using tongs.
5. Let them dry uncovered for 24 hours until tacky but firm.
6. Optional: Toss dried slices in additional sugar for a sparkling effect.
7. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerate for longer freshness.
Notes
- Use Meyer lemons for a sweeter, floral flavor.
- Ensure slices are even for consistent candying.
- Great for cake toppers, cocktails, or gifts.
- Avoid crowding slices in the skillet—work in batches for best results.
